How Sprout make their amazing traditional rocking horse designs

Our beautiful, traditional swing stand rocking horses are hand carved in a Victorian style. We use all natural products including a special kind of glue which has been successfully used in the rocking horse making process for many years now. Our rocking horses are made in Somerset from a sustainable hardwood derived from an American Poplar called Tulip.

A Stunning - Hard Wearing Finish

Your Somerset born traditional rocking horse is finished using a traditional Victorian guilders application called gesso. Extra detail is added with no less than four coats of child-friendly, non toxic paint which is then beautifully sealed with two coats of satin varnish.

Traditional Swing Stand

Our traditional swing iron stands are made from European Oak, and finished by hand using top quality wax.

Beautiful Fittings

All of your rocking horse’s leatherwork and brass fittings are just like those you would have on a real horse and are produced in the UK. Your hand carved rocking horse will have genuine horse’s hair in its mane and tail. Finally, your horse’s eyes are top quality and made from glass.

Your Fantastic Accessory Pack

Your rocking horse accessory pack includes solid brass stirrup irons, a beautiful ribbon rosette, braided dark green saddlecloths, leather cantle strap and leather stirrup straps, leather bridle with bit and reins, chest, tail and girth strappings.

All of the rocking horses from the Sprout range are carved by hand in our Somerset based workshop so no two rocking horses will ever be the same. The care taken in carving your traditional rocking horse is second to none with careful attention to detail when it comes to finishing each piece.

Your hand carved rocking horse will have its own personalised brass plaque added, as well as a numbered plaque hidden discreetly by Sprout on the underside of its stand making it highly collectable and a valuable investment.

Delivery - Delivery is available throughout the UK, in our personalised Sprout trailer and truck and we will let you know costs when we know where you are! If you would like an extra special delivery service then please ask about our horse box surprise delivery service. We can help you make your rocking horses arrival the most memorable day of their lives, with balloons, velvet wraps for the horse, photographs and a presentation album can be sent to you to help you remember the occasion - again, please enquire for costs.

Guarantee - We guarantee all of our products against all manufacturing defects and faults; the rocking horses and furniture are designed to last. All furniture and rocking horses come with a full care instruction pack, so we give you the best advice on how to look after your furniture or horse, for the long term!

Price - The rocking horse prices start from £1950.00, depending on the style and finish. Our furniture is all individually priced, from £575.00 for a coffee table to £2200 for a bureau and dresser for a boot room! Mostly, our projects are bespoke, so you can tell us what you are looking for and we will let you know the price.
